One day I will create a game millions of people will play and enjoy. For now, I'm learning how to make things happen when the player wants them to.

Good Ol' Poker

"Wonderful poker game."

submission: Good Ol' Poker
date: August 25, 2008

This is a wonderful poker game. It caputres the essence of five card draw very well with flawless animation and very appropriate back ground music. I also loved the interaction between the characters when they win/lose hands, and the cheating just adds another level of awesomeness into the mix.

If I could make just one small, nitpicky comment - the cheats you introduced were a spectacular touch. However, it really seemed like they weren't usable enough to really take advantage of it. It also wasn't clear if the computer players were able to use theirs or not.

All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Thank you for making it and sharing it here.

"I can appreciate the sentiment..."

submission: Sonic Sonic Sonic

While I can certainly appreciate the sentiment of what you were trying to do here, I think you missed the mark. If I understand correctly, you were looking to share the games on your website with the folks here at Newgrounds. That's awesome, and we appreciate it. However, rather than attempting to upload your entire website, you would have been better off uploading the games directly.

I'll be honest with you, I did not even bother to play the games that your web site offers because, to be frank, I have no interest at this time in visiting any websites outside of Newgrounds. Furthermore, if I did, I doubt that yours would make my list of places to check out, especially considering the brazen way you've just gone about advertising it.

To summarize: upload your games themselves and you'll be recieved in a much more positive manner.

Manic Mouse Avoider

"Very nice, but lacking completion."

date: August 17, 2008

I enjoyed playing this game. A smooth learning curve that led the player gradually into each new aspect of the game. The level selection screen was also a nifty idea (though clicking rather than mouse over entry would be preferable, many times I accidently entered a level when I was trying to get to another).

I would have loved to have finished this game, but alas once I got to level 6, the map screen would no longer let me into the new levels.

Once again, though, kudos on a well designed game, just the one small bug that prevents players from progressing. :(

Night Light 2

"Decent Mouse Avoider Game"

submission: Night Light 2
date: August 16, 2008

It was a decent enough game, and the night light aspect certainly added a twist to it. Whether that twist added more annoyance or enjoyability I suppose is up to the individual who is currently playing (I beieve my phrasing makes it clear which side I lean towards).

There was, however, one thing about this game that absolutely killed any enjoyment I had - if you lose on a level you get sent back to the very beginning rather than the start of the level you were attempting. I find that annoying enough when I'm playing quiz games, for a game such as this it's a deal breaker.

Pointless Platformer

"Wonderfully Entertaining"

date: August 16, 2008

This game is, in a word, spectacular. I loved the humour both in the click-to-read jokes and in the background graffiti you put in. The controls were smooth and I was only able to find some very minor clipping issues (where I was able to jump again after not quite landing on my destination platform).

I also loved that there was a little bit of replay value in finding all of the burgers, although since you never report to us how many there are to find, I'm not quite sure if I completed that task or not. I managed to find 75 after an extensive round of exploration, so I assume there aren't any more than that, but a verification where you report our final score would have been appreciated.

STERN

"Much potential - more flaws"

submission: STERN
date: August 16, 2008

Holy crap, this game has so much potential, but there are a lot of things standing in its way. First off, a menu screen is an absolute neccesity. Perhaps you had one, but there was no direction on how to access it, so I wasn't able to see it.

Second, my first non scripted battle was not one in which I was able to succeed. Both my regular attack and my magic attack did the same amount of damage, which was less than my opponent's. In addition, my opponent started with more hp than I did, and my heal spell made up for a single attack. Furthermore, when my foe dropped my hp down to -432, the game froze. I didn't die, nothing changed on screen, and all interactivity failed.

I can't wait to experience this game in it's completion, but a substantial amount of debugging and design fixes are in order before that can occur.

Quarantine Defender

"Massive potential downgraded by upgrades."

date: July 27, 2008

This is a very clever game with a very clever concept and solid execution. The only thing about this game that detracts from it is the scaricty of the upgrades. Requiring 750 xp for any given first level upgrade when you barely earn over 100 xp in the first few levels is much too slow a pace.

Perhaps if you were to make some of the less valuable upgrades cheaper, award more xp per kill or some other similar situation?

EXIT II

"Good, but many flaws"

submission: EXIT II
date: May 23, 2008

This is a good concept and a nice game, however it suffers from many flaws that make it less than desireable:

Clipping: I had enormous problems with clipping issues, especially with the white squares that rose above the black platform.

Stuck button: This button sends you back to the previous level rather than restarting the one you're on.

Jumping: Sluggish at best. Rather than implementing a double jump, a single jump that reaches twice as high would be much better. Particularily when combined with the clipping issues, this made navigation a nightmare at points.

Over specification: Particularily where you utilized invisible walls/floors, many of your objectives became a matter of finding one specific spot in the area, and once found this spot made the objective trivial. It is not fun to look through every square in the area looking for that one magic one.

Visible transparancy: You can see the outlines of your transparant walls. Somewhat ironically this allowed for progression through the previous point I made. :P

Author's Response:

Visible transparancy: I used it for testing, but it turns out I forgot to make it completely invisible

Game of Disorientation

"Almost perfect, just the one thing."

date: August 22, 2007

Woah, that was awesome. 'Twas trippy, challenging, and fun all in one neat little package.

I have only one gripe: the clones.

While it was a very excellent idea to include the clones to add another layer of confusion ("OMFG! Which one am I?"), the fact that they killed you when they touched you felt very frustrating. It only got worse when I kept on dying to the clones and the levels dumbed down the disorientation (which I was enjoying very very much) while the clones remained at full strength.

By the way, the fact that the levels got easier as you died was an exceedingly brilliant idea. I just wish the part I was having trouble with got easier and the part I was enjoying stayed the same.
